Got any ideas for a summer wedding outside by the water? Enter vintage "wedding ring" quilt contest beginning today. The last day of the contest will be Sunday, June 12th. Enter your country or eclectic decorating ideas for the July 30th outside wedding at a waterfront setting. The bride is my daughter, Chrissie. The grand prize is a vintage "wedding ring" quilt (old but in good condition) that will be given to the individual with the most entries. The vintage quilt is being purchased from Carriage House Antiques in So Cal. What's nice about this quilt is that you can find any color in it.
Additional prizes (TBA) will also be given to individuals who entered ideas that Chrissie and her fiance choose to include in their wedding decorations. Blogs belonging to individuals whose ideas were chosen for the wedding will be advertised at the wedding and at Southwest Cottage Designs in August.
This is the first day of the quilt contest blog series about Chrissie, her fiance, Elvin, and their wedding. Chrissie and Elvin devote their lives to God and youth ministry. They are scheduled to attend a youth prayer and missions trip to Chicago this year (more on this later). Check back soon for the next article in this series to learn more.
My eight-listed white items came to my mind in the exact order shown. If you've been keeping up with my blog lately, you know that my latest "white" passion is flowers, specifically my roses. Recently on a Sunday morning I took photos of rain-kissed flowers in my garden. One of my miniature rose plants produces white roses that are sometimes tinged with pink and look so pretty next to the pink and green sedum. Weddings make me think of little children, white lace, white and variety-colored flowers, white paper doilies, white chairs, white bridal carpet and . . . my daughter's wedding coming up in July.

Neat idea! I don't see the donations page yet. I'll check back. I'm a happy follower/friend.;)
My idea is to hang lots of ribbons from the trees. Cheap but looks sweet blowing in the wind. I'm sure I'll be back with more ideas!
OOOoo I LOVE the flowers in your header. Thanks for stopping by, now following you back from Adventures at Greenacre.
Have a Blessed day!
How cool a country wedding - I've seen so many on blogs lately.
I'm a follower my friend!

Hmmm an idea
hay bales stacked for a buffet covered with burlap runners and the wonderful food and of course wild flowers or just white daisies or queen annes' lace in mason jars
Hang Mason jars with flameless candles for the reception

Sparklers for the send off!
Oooh, these are fun ideas, girls. Keep 'em coming:)
Wire and baby food jars make wonderful tealights from the trees!
I also love the idea of having many 6 inch 3 tier cakes on a dessert table in various flavors. Saves alot of money and everyone can have their favorite!
I'm a new follower!
Thanks for sharing over here at the garden party - hoping you'll get lot's of ideas. What a beautiful quilt. I love outdoor weddings & lake ones to boot. My idea of a beautiful wedding on the lake is to have all the guests make a floating candle wish and then set all thier candles out onto the water - it is absolutely a gorgeous site to see - photo's never do it justice though! Hope my idea "takes the cake" or quilt that is? xoox, tracie
I found a great site for free printable lemonade labels here: http://www.jbartyn.com/downloads/2010/3/12/vintage-lemonade-labels.html I also like The idea of appetizers set up in the back of a truck like here: http://www.countryliving.com/cooking/entertaining/outdoor-weddings-storybook-0607 would also be great for pictures!
For wedding favors I would place sand dollars on the tables. I would have the legend of the sand dollar printed to go with them. I'm sure you know it, it's said that missionaries used them as a way to teach the good news but I am posting it here anyway:There’s a pretty little legend
That I would like to tell
Of the birth and death of Jesus
Found in this lowly shell.
If you examine closely,
You’ll see that you find here
Four nail holes and a fifth one
Made by a Roman’s Spear.
On one side the Easter Lily,
Its centre is the star
That appeared unto the shepherds
And led them from afar.
The Christmas poinsettia
Etched on the other side
Reminds us of His birthday
Our Happy Christmastide.
Now break the centre open
And here you will release
The five white doves waiting
To spread Goodwill and Peace.
This simple little symbol,
Christ left for you and me
To help us spread the Gospel
Through all eternity.

and congratulations and best wishes and blessings to the couple.
That's a gorgeous quilt and I have always love the wedding ring pattern.
I have been a follower of yours for awhile now.
You have some great ideas out there. HappyPink Saturday, Char
Just wanted to say that you are one busy blogger! Love your blog and the whole idea behind the quilt giveaway. So sweet. My friend just made pennants by cutting two triangles of coordinating (wedding colors) cotton fabric, zig-zagged them together, then zig-zagged them on thick burlap twine. No hemming, no turning inside out, easy and so cute. These will hang mostly across the reception tent and down the wedding isle too. Oh and I now follow your blog.
Oh, I have another idea... terra cotta flower pots for centerpieces. We dry brushed the pots, with white paint for an aged look, and put large pillar candles in the center surrounded by moss and sea glass/stones. In the drip trays we hot-glued small flowers and greenery. At the last minute we found little fabric and glitter butterflies on curly willow sticks and placed them around the candles out of the flames way for added height and sparkle.
What a beautiful daughter!
That quilt is just gorgeous.
Have a beautiful PS weekend ~

Oh goodness, such fun ideas. My thought for flowers is sunflowers and daisies, with ribbon in the wedding colors added, in polka dots and plaids, add a few rhinestones for glitter.
Happy PS
Gail
Happy ps, love quilts, and double wedding ring is favorite. Congrats on the wedding coming up.
I have no ideas for you. :( I'm in a desert... I can't wait to see what you do though. :)
Have a great weekend!

Another idea.....quilts for table cloths...on the food table, gift table, cake table (this one might be an all white one).
I am following now.
Gail
You asked what white makes me thing of..........fresh fallen snow, glittering as the sun shines on it, pure, before touched by anything or anyone.
Gail
What a lovely old quilt...I cannot believe you are going to give it away. You are very kind and generous. Know you are excited about the wedding. They can be such a wonderful experience. Take care and have a nice weekend. HPS.
I did this for my daughter's wedding: instead of the standard guest book which pretty much gets put away forever, I had a 4x6 photo of them set in a large photo mat where the guests would sign their wishes to the new couple. After the wedding it was framed and hangs in their home, a blessed reminder of their special day and the blessings of those who shared it with them.
We also had a pig roast which was awesome! Had the ladies of the church make salads and baked beans served with buns...scrumptious and still remembered by wedding attendees.
It would be cool if you could have some floating flowers or candles on the pond while the ceremony is taking place.
A theme of swans would be pretty...swan planters full of flowers...watermelons cut like swans for the buffet tables;
If you are doing a slide show of the couple, what about hanging a sheet for a screen?
Happy Pink Saturday! (PS 3rd Birthday giveaway ends tonight.)
I am a new follower. Good luck with the giveaway
I read somewhere about printing the program on fans
I thnk galvanized buckets on the tables to put flowers in would realyy set of daisies and other white flowers!
I also saw instaed of the couple lighting a unity candle they poured to different colors of sand in a vase at the same time and now display it on their mantle.
Ok my last idea. How about cupcakes in a jar as a takehome favor instead of having cake boxes.Protected from bugs and can be made lovely with ribbons and a tag!

STORMY
Day’s gone, night’s come.
Storm cracks the midnight sky;
White sand soaks my worries
Into disappearing streams ---
And, by morning,
Fresh breath smiles around me.
WHITE
Like the white field mouse caught in the glare of the headlight. Racing out of safety into oncoming danger. For a flash of white, it stalls and considers which black is safer … where he came from or into dark ahead. It hops white hops, leaving little zigzag white trails in the light like a dying sparkler held up high in the dark sky by a small hand. The mouse is as small as a hand and absorbed in white, then gone.
